Monday, March 11th at about 10 AM, Terrance Heyes, a 2021 graduate of Cross County School paid an uninvited visit to his alma mater. He caused quite a commotion, tearing up the parking lot. He never left his vehicle, but gave obscene gestures to those outside according to Sheriff Ladwig. This led the school to lock down for a few minutes. The perpetrator left via his unmarked maroon car, and the lockdown was called off within 30 minutes. He was stopped by a Polk County Sheriff’s officer and told not to go back. He was given a citation but left via his vehicle.

According to sheriff, Tuesday afternoon (the 12th) he was driving recklessly around the county and the police were on high speed pursuit after him, leading Cross County to cancel all after school activities/practices. Cross County had a county policeman on the premises ensuring children safely got on the bus or to their cars to head home. By 4 PM, the perpetrator was caught in York by the Polk County Sheriff’s Office and York County Sheriff’s Office after the pursuit. He is charged with flight to avoid arrest and willful reckless driving. He was put in jail but is now out.
