2026 Festival King and Queen Crowned

STROMSBURG - Friday evening at Festival, a new king and queen were selected from the crowd. This year’s royalty are King Steve Dubas (selected by his wife, last year’s queen) and Queen Judy Hanson. Their attendants include Erik Hanson (Judy’s grandson), Emmett Klein, Lucy Roberts and Raygen Jensen.

New Paintings in Buckley Park

STROMSBURG - New artwork is now in Buckley Park, displaying Stromsburg’s Swedish heritage and noting that services are free of charge.New artwork was placed on the east side of the RV pavilion (donation box sign), as well as on the two gables on the north side of the RV pavilion.

SLF Tour Features a Walk Down Memory Lane

STROMSBURG — The community was invited to walk the halls of the old Stromsburg High School on Sunday.The event was part of Stromsburg Legacy Fund Meet & Greet.

Awards Presented at First Friday

STROMSBURG - Friday, June 5th was First Friday sponsored by the Stromsburg Chamber of Commerce. The band Freedom Road played, there were food trucks, vendors, pie and ice cream and cornhole. Many came out for the event and the only downside was mosquitos from the rain.

Legion Needs Help with Flags Memorial WeekendHonoring our veterans over Memorial weekend has been a tradition for many years. Stromsburg Legion Post 132 will help with the Memorial ceremony at both Swede Home and Stromsburg cemeteries on Monday, May 25th.

Swedish Festival Food News

The Swedish Festival will be June 19-21, 2026. There is some exciting news about the food.The Taste of Sweden and Smorgasbord have combined! The Taste of Sweden (by Woman's Civic Improvement Club) will run Friday, June 19th from 5-9 PM.

Jacob Smith Receives Prestigious Scholarship

OMAHA - Jacob Smith, senior at Cross County, was nominated and received the DJ Hero Award. He was one of 19 Nebraska students chosen. This award is based on perseverance, generosity and servant-leadership.

AWANA Concludes 45th Year

STROMSBURG - Wednesday (April 22nd), Stromsburg AWANA club wrapped up it’s 45 year with their annual awards night. In AWANA kids from age Kindergarten to sixth grade study Bible verses and recite them, as well as hear a speaker in counsel time and play games.
