Governor in favor of voter ID

Gov. Pete Ricketts said Monday that Nebraskans should be required to show photographic identification before voting, even though he acknowledged there have been few cases of voter fraud in the state. “The time to try to correct your system is not after you discover there’s fraud,” he said.

Williams Wins Award

The Nebraska Chapter of the National Association of Housing & Redevelopment Officials (NE NAHRO) presented Renee Williams of Gresham, Nebraska with their highest honor as the recipient of the 2022 Orville Stanton Distinguished Service Award.

TEN YEARS AGO September 27, 2012 Gerry and Pam George of rural Gresham and John and Geniece C’ourtnght of Los Alamos, New Mexico attended the Nebraska vs Idaho State football game on Saturday in Lincoln. The Centennial varsity football team was defeated by the Malcolm Clippers on Friday evening.

GRESHAM LOCALS

The memorial service for Doug Dey, age 88 of Gresham, was held on Wednesday, September 20, 2022 at the Presbyterian Church in Gresham. Karen (Behm) Kierbs passed away on Sunday, September 18th, 2022 with services being held on Friday, September 23rd at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Gresham.

Immunization Clinics Oct. 12,17

The Polk County Health Department will hold immunization clinics at the Polk County Health Department in Osceola on Wednesday October 12th, 2022 from 1:30 to 3:30 and Monday, October 17th from 3:30 to 5:30. An appointment is required for compliance to the COVID-19 directives.

HARVEST TIME

As combines pop up in fields across the Midwest, the Nebraska Corn Board and Nebraska Corn Growers Association encourage farmers, as well as local residents and visitors, to take a second for safety in rural areas this harvest season.

Olson Family Reunion

We had the Olson Reunion Sunday, August 14th in Gresham at the Community Center with 22 family members present. Family traveled from Wyoming and Kansas to be with the families living here in Nebraska. We look forward to more attending next year.
