Press release from Polk County Sheriff
ATV/Pedestrian accident 1 mile south of highway 66 on County Road C happened in Polk County on Thursday, November 6th about 5:18 pm.
According to Polk County Sheriff Ladwig, the driver of the ATV was Nicholas Rodine, age 42, of Polk. He was driving a 2018 John Deere ATV which was northbound on County Road C, struck a pedestrian, Carol "Lynn" Hofmann, age 56 of Polk. She was walking southbound on the northbound shoulder. She was taken to Merrick Medical Center in Central City, where she was pronounced deceased. Driver of the ATV was not injured, and it is unknown if his seatbelt was in use. The accident is still under investigation by The Nebraska State Patrol and the Polk County Sheriff's Office.
