Shelby-Rising City Girls Crowned Champs at Own Meet

The Shelby-Rising City Girls came away with the trophy at their own invite. They scored 79 points more than the runner up, David City. The Lady Cougars came in fifth, with the Lady Storm ninth and Lady Bulldogs eleventh.

Storm Boys Runner-up at Meridian Invite

FRIEND — High Plains finished second on Monday at the Meridian Invite held at Friend High School. The 4x100-meter relay finished first at the event with a time of 46.77. The 4x400-meter relay finished second with a time of 3:56.41. Brodey Spurling finished second in the long jump, clearing 19-03.

Huskies, Storm Hit the Links at Ryan Hill

OSCEOLA — Shelby-Rising City and High Plains were in action on Monday at Ryan Hill Country Club in Osceola. The two teams were taking on Heartland Lutheran and Humphrey/ Lindsay Holy Family for nine holes of afternoon golf. Ethan Fjell and Kole Eickmeier each shot a 53 for the Huskies.

Cougars, Storm See First Outdoor Track Action

CENTRAL CITY — The Cougars and Storm track teams got their first taste of outdoor competition this year at the Merrick County Invite at Preferred Popcorn Field in Central City. Cross County and High Plains were among the 11 schools competing at the event on Tuesday.

Storm Has New Coach, Experienced Runners

High Plains has a new track coach, Darius Williams. He has some experienced athletes on the Storm team, and looks forward to this season. A total of 21 boys and 15 girls are out for track. Returning state qualifiers include Gage Friesen and Gavin Morris in the 4 x 100 relay.

Storm Golfers Young, Hungry For Success

POLK — The High Plains golf team will be a mix of returning players and newcomers when they take the course for the first time. Storm golf coach Mack Alspaugh said that they have five golfers on the team this year.

Area teams Compete at Concordia Invite

Concordia Invite (Class C) Prairie Division Shelby-Rising City and Cross County competed in the indoor meet at Concordia during the class C (Prairie Division) Friday late afternoon and evening. Shelby-Rising City girls had a great day, ending up as the runner-up team with 74 points.
