Gresham Man Changes Plea

Body

Travis Patchin, age 40, of Gresham has pleaded no contest to a charge of possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) and carrying a concealed weapon. This is a Class I misdeanor.

Patchin was driving a pickup pulling a trailer when a deputy with the York County Sheriff’s Department pulled him over for a traffic violation. This was in the area of East 19th Street, west of Delaware Street in York. During the stop, the police dog, Justice, alerted the deputy to the presence of narcotics in the vehicle.

Patchin pulled a cigarette package out of his pocket, which contained methamphetamine. A search of his pickup revealed a fixed blade survival knife. The knife was in a sheath and on the dashboard in front of the driver’s seat. The knife had two bladed sections, one of five inches in length and the other two and one-half inches. Also located was a container with white methamphetamine residue.

Patchin was convicted of a Class 2 felony in York County in January 2015 and a Class 4 felony in Otoe County in November 2021 so he cannot have weapons of any kind. Both those previous cases involved the possession of meth.

He was first charged with possession of a deadly weapon by a prohibited person, a Class 3 felony but that was reduced to a concealed carry offense, a Class 1 misdemeanor. Sentencing is set for October 20.
