Had I not suddenly changed topics, these thoughts would have run in conjunction with last week’s timely front page story and photos pertaining to the serious drought.
WHAT to do?! ... WHAT to do?!
Yes, we are STUNNED by the various news reports of serious drought conditions, including photos of our area’s DRY Platte Riverbed, and another state’s recently exposed dinosaur tracks emphasizing their drought conditions!
Like many, I worry about NOT watering the lawn, AND (of course) would worry about doing so amid serious drought, when that water becomes even more precious! (I felt like a criminal when applying some water required by a professional lawn treatment application.)
I keep wishing for a dedicated pipeline system to channel excess waters to areas in need. Costly? Most likely, but what is the cost in lives harmed or lost to fires of floods, and the horrendous devastation?
Many of us have become that proverbial child at Christmas, eagerly searching for Santa and his entourage, but (of course) in the form of RAIN. When the RAIN does not come, or the brief pitter- patter of droplets ends before we can access the nearest view, we become that proverbial child, discovering the lump of coal in his Christmas stocking!
Neglecting years of serious advice about safeguarding the protective Ozone layer was a HUGE mistake, for which ALL are now paying the price!
Hopefully, ALL are willing to “get on board” the train of reconciliation, to “ride together” -- on behalf of our beloved nation and planet!
‘Til next week, stay safe, keep well and enjoy a special Labor Day weekend! GO BULLDOGS!
