CLARKS — When Spencer Tedford joined the army in 1941, he was an under-age New Hampshire lumberjack. He was assigned to Fort Riley, Kansas after his training. In 1943, he was one of many men who volunteered for a “dangerous and hazardous” mission which included serving in India and northern Burma. They were nicknamed Merrill’s Marauders.
