Swedish Steel & Arts Festival, Sat. Sept. 3rd: 9am- 4pm: Metal art vendors and various local artists will have art on display and for sale!
11am- 2pm: Live music by Birdfoot on the Bandstand Stage Mid morning - late afternoon: Food Truck Party! Several trucks will line the north and south sides of the square.
2:30pm: Husker Football on the big screen, bring your lawn chairs!
Founders’ Day, Sun. Sept. 4th: Noon: Community Picnic with Live Music by Birdfoot and Ice Cream by the Jeagers *Bring your own picnic lunch or purchase one- Hot dogs & Chips by Economy, Wine & Cheese Trays by the 150th Committee, Brisket lunch by West Side Bar & Grill, Variety of options by the Roll With It Food Truck.
1pm: “So, You Think You Can Speak Swedish!?” contest on the Bandstand Stage *No pre-registration required, see the published verse on page 4 to practice and be prepared to do some improv too! There are prizes!
1:30pm: Community Photo in front of the Victor Anderson Building, 4th & Commercial *All are welcome! Be ready to jump in and smile! We encourage families with Stromsburg history to have a photo taken as well- sign up during the picnic. These will be very quick and will follow the large group photo.
2pm or following the Photo: Golf Cart Parade! Fall in line behind the Grand Marshall cart near 3rd & Commercial. The route will go past Midwest Covenant Home and return to the square.
*No pre-registration necessary. Golf carts, side-by-sides, bicycles welcome. Decorate to the theme, “Swedish Then & Now” for a chance to win a prize donated by Klein’s Blue River- the King & Queen are judging!
2:30pm or following the parade: Swedish Rope Tug- in the grass lot across from Rally Auto on 4th St.
*Sign up your 6 person teams during the picnic. Hoping to reenact the Merchants vs Farmers tug of 1966... for questions, call Rick 303-917-1423 4pm- 5pm, 8pm- 9pm: Cemetery Stories, Stromsburg Cemetery *Small groups will be led through the cemetery starting about every ten minutes between 4-5 and again between 8-9. The tour will take about an hour. A shuttle will be available from the square to the cemetery.
150th Souvenirs will be available for purchase both days, near the Bandstand.
Fundraising proceeds of the 150th Celebration’s 2022 activities and souvenir sales will go towards a sound system for the Bandstand!
A scavenger hunt that takes you around town and includes historic clues and fun facts will be available throughout the weekend- get yours at the 150th Souvenir table!
