Wednesday, Polk County and the entire state of Nebraska was pummeled with about 6-8 inches of heavy wet snow. Officially Polk County received 6.5 inches of snow which amounted 0.72 of precipitation.
This snow broke branches off trees, broke power line poles and closed many highways including highway 81, I-80 and many more.
