Prescribed burns planned for some WMAs

Prescribed burns are planned on some Nebraska Game and Parks Commission wildlife management areas, if weather conditions allow.Burns during the summer and fall can help set back undesirable plants that invade native prairies and other grasslands.
Russ Hanson of Stromsburg got a big thrill when he hit a hole-in-one on Tuesday, August 12th at Ryan Hill Country Club in Osceola. It was on hole #2 (a par 3) and witnessed by Ron Cornwell. It was his second hole-in-one on that same hole; the first was 12 years ago. Photo provided.

Sons of Legion Breaking Ground

STROMSBURG - The Sons of the Legion broke ground on a new veteran’s memorial last week. They have been doing fundraisers and gathering donations in order to make this happen.They are about 50% of the way there. They decided the cement could be poured and the walls erected with what they have.
