New Year Brings Minimum Wage Increase

On Jan. 1, Nebraska’s minimum wage will increase from $9 to $10.50 as the first step under Initiative 433, passed by voters in November. Business owners across the state say the minimum wage increase will boost consumer spending and strengthen Nebraska’s workforce and local businesses.

Blood Pressure Clinics

Clinics to monitor blood pressure will also be held at the Polk County Health Department in Osceola, every 1st and 3rd Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. No appointment is necessary. Walk-ins are welcome any day during office hours.

SRC Fitness Center to Reopen Next Week

SHELBY — Cold temperatures are to blame in the entryway at Shelby-Rising City schools that forced the fitness center to close last week. Superintendent Tucker Tejkl said that the sprinkler lines in the entry area had drained, leaving no fire suppression for the area.

Larson to be Inducted into CCC Hall Of Fame

Lindsay Larson, a Cross County High School alumnae, will be inducted posthumously into the Central Community College Athletic Hall of Fame in February. An outfielder on the CCC softball team, Larson had a stellar career in 2013 and 2014.
