Andrea’s Family Diner Weekend Schedule

Andrea’s Family Diner will be open Monday to Saturday 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sundays from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Mondays are burger night, Wednesday is wings, and Fridays and Saturdays are steak nights. Special hours for July 4th weekend: Friday (regular hours) 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.

TEN YEARS AGO June 21, 2012 Haley King of Shelby was elected treasurer at Girls State. Shelby residents were raising money to fix the pool. The pool was built in 1973 and has developed cracks. Pool staff had a hard time keeping the chemicals stabilized in these conditions.

Fireworks Stand

Fireworks stand at the Shelby-Rising City bus barn parking lot from June 25 to June 30th from noon to 10 p.m. and from July 1st to July 4th from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. All proceeds will benefit the 2023 World Strides Trip.

Ice Cream Social

The annual ice cream social will be held on July 4th at the Rising City Community Hall from 2-4 p.m. Proceeds will benefit Shelby-Rising City World Strides. Free will donation, and menu includes pie, ice cream and brownie sundaes.

LIBRARY NEWS

MOVIE MATINEES We will be having Free Children’s Movie Matinees on Tuesdays July 5th and July 12th at 10 a.m. Movies are rated PG and will last about one and one-half hours. Free popcorn and bottled water will be served during the movie.

This week the Arc of Platte County, a partner agency of the Columbus Area United Way held their 25th Summer Friends Special Needs Camp at Lost Creek Elementary School.

Clark is Oldest Living Shelby Resident

Gordon Clark is the oldest living male in Shelby, Nebraska. Gordon was born on August 2, 1928 to Ross Clark and Nina Snedeker of Shelby, Nebraska. Gordon enjoys Quilting and is involved with The Quilts of Valor and has donated many quilts to Veterans. In 2021 Gordon published a book called P.S.

TEN YEARS AGO June 28, 2012 Justin Hackenkamp was named to the Dean’s List at Southeast Community College. Coach Koinzan’s football camp was scheduled for July 16-18 for kids in third through sixth grades.
