Rosetta “Rosie” (Gabriel) Larson
11/08/1942 – 04/07/2026
It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Rosetta Larson, on Tuesday, April 7th at the age of 83. Known affectionately as “Rosie” to her friends and family, she will be forever remembered for the deep and unwavering love she held for us all and a life of hard work and connection.
Rosie graduated from Osceola High School in 1960 and married Larry Skinner shortly after, with whom she shared three children: Kathy, Coleen, and Randy. In 1982, Rosie married Merle Larson. Together, they moved to Grass Valley and later Fort Bragg, California. Throughout her career, Rosie was a dedicated waitress, enjoying many years at the Home Style Cafe. When she and Merle eventually moved to Carson City, she became a familiar face at the Oyster Bar and later the Horseshoe. The staff at the Horseshoe became a second family to her. Though a stroke eventually prevented her from working, she remained a frequent visitor, continuing to enjoy meals and games with her dear friends there.
Family Legacy: Rosie was preceded in death by her husband, Merle Larson; her parents, Matilda and Albert Gabriel; and her sisters, Marietta Peters and infant Veronica Mae Gabriel and brother Jerome ‘Lefty’ Gabriel.
She is survived by: Brothers: Lester and Robert Gabriel.
Children: Katherine (Skinner) Allen of Mendocino, CA; Coleen (Skinner) Warner of Lincoln, NE; Randy Skinner of Rising City, NE.
Grandchildren: Susan Rau, Robbie Allen, Meagan Grant, Alyssa Kreikemeier, Eric Skinner, Gabby Warner, and Shawn Warner.
Great-Grandchildren: Taylor Banks, Kaden Rau, Noah Rau, Urijah Grant, Mckynleigh Grant, Elzy Warner, Kameron Kreikemeier, and Khloe Kreikemeier.
Great-Great-Grandchildren: Lillith Long, Everlynn Banks, Theodore Banks, and Silas Banks. Rosie will be deeply missed by all who knew her. We take comfort in the hope that she was met at the gates of Heaven by the loved ones who went before her.
Rest in peace, Mom. We love you.
