Vernon and Lois (Harmelink) Behr celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. They were married December 28, 1951 in Iowa.

A Christmas dinner and gift exchange was held on Saturday at the home of Rea Mae Johnson. Friday from three age divisions for The Polk County News Christmas coloring contest. Winners were: Eric Hays, son of Chris and Jane Hays of Osceola, Conner Peterson, son of Lee and Michel Peterson, of Benedict; Tyler Petersen, son o f Dave and Carolyn Petersen of Stromsburg.

The Stromsburg Bank is pleased to announce winners of the Second Annual Best Dressed House Contest. Winners are 1st prize, Merlin Simpson; 2nd prize, Bruce Schmidt; 3rd prize, Charlie Johnson.
Flames had already taken a great toll on the Margo Kreis home as trucks from the Stromsburg Fire Department sped to the scene. Eighteen firemen battled the blazing two story house. The home was a total loss.
The Lady Vikings go 4-0 for the season by defeating Shelby by a score of 73-32. There were four players in double figures, Michelle Bittner with 17, Michelle Brazda 16, Kelly Knerr 12 and Amy Hanson 11.

Evelyn Fjell has announced her retirement from her duties at Midwest Covenant Home. She began working at the home in 1962.
The Stromsburg Board of Education met in regular session January 11 and elected Richard Teegerstrom as president of the board. Kurth DeLand was named vice-president and Mary Ann Guggenmos was chosen treasurer.

Mr. and Mrs. Roger Johnson are the parents of a boy born January 6.
The Pleasant Comer neighborhood folks gathered at the Paul Swanson home December 29 for a holiday party.

Lyle Kreis, son of Mr. and Mrs. Russell Kreis left Tuesday morning to be inducted into the armed forces.
Mrs. Jennie Lindgren and Reuben Sundberg were married on January 1 at the Covenant Church in Lanyon, Iowa.
A group of friends charivaried Mr. and Mrs. Norris Johnson on Tuesday night. They were treated at the cafes in Stromsburg by the newlyweds.
