In the third place versus Sutton, the Osceola Bulldogs would never trail in the game, and used a 12-3 third quarter to gain control of a tight game and come home with a 41-28 victory and raise their record to 7-1.
The Bulldogs would hit 4 straight three pointers to start the game, with Isaiah Zelasney and Pierce Branting hitting 2 each as they jumped out to a 12-6 lead. The only other points in the quarter was a Zelasney field goal as they held a 14-6 advantage after one.
The Mustangs opened up the second quarter on a 8-0 run to knot the score up at 14. The Bulldogs answered with 5 straight points to retake the lead, 19-14, with Zelasney hitting a three and Kale Gustafson a field goal. After 4 points by Sutton, Wyatt Urban’s basket closed the half and a 21-18 half time lead.
The Mustangs opened up the second half with a field goal to close the gap to one before the Dawgs answered with 6 straight points, two free throws and a bucket by Urban, and a Carter Girard field goal, to take a 27-20 lead. After a Mustang free throw, the Dawgs would go on another run, 6-0, to close the quarter and take a double digit lead, 33-21. Gus hit a free throw and field goal during the run, with Girard nailing a free throw and Zelasney scoring on a steal and layup.
A 6-0 run to start the final quarter, all by Zelasney on 3 field goals, capping a 12-0, gave the Bulldogs their largest lead of the night, 39-21. A free throw each by Zelasney and Gus closed out the scoring for the Dawgs.
The Bulldogs 36% from the field and 46% from the charity stripe, while they pulled down 29 boards and committed 13 turnovers.
Zelasney paced the attack with 20 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 steals, while Gus added 6 points, 13 rebounds, and 3 steals. Branting had 4 rebounds and 2 steals.
