Coach Greg Jahde’s team was 6-25 a year ago, but sophomores Meagan Jahde (.393 BA, 31 SB, first-team All-Conference) and Nicole Martensen (four homers, 21 RBI) are two reasons for the co-op entry to feel optimistic. Senior Sierra Rhynalds batted .333 in 2021 with 14 doubles and 25 RBI and earned second-team All-Conference honors. Junior Rylie Carter scored 20 runs and drilled 10 doubles one season ago. All four played with Coach Jahde’s David City Dynamite this summer.
Senior Autumn Lindsley is back as the team’s most experienced pitcher (she also drove in 16 runs as a hitter); sophomore Aubree Siffring, who pitched for the Dynamite this summer, is another who should get plenty of mound action. Blue River’s record in 2021
Blue River’s record in 2021 was a bit deceiving, given that the team was 1-9 in games decided by two runs or less, including a 9-8 decision to Polk County. But the squad finished third in the Southern Nebraska Conference tourney at the end of 2021 and only two players are gone from last year’s team, so the experience factor may help this fall when games get tight.
