Huskies Top Rebels in 50-22 Road Win

LOUP CITY — The outcome was never in doubt for Shelby-Rising City as they steam-rolled Arcadia/Loup City in a 50-22 victory Friday night.

Logan Lindsley got the Huskies (2-1) in the end zone early and the road team never looked back.

The Rebels (1-2) did not lie down, scraping and crawling their way back into the game and eventually taking a 22-20 lead. But the Huskies would rattle off 30-straight points to put Arcadia/Loup City away and return home with the win.

Justin Knoll was the workhorse for the Huskies Friday night. The senior carried the ball 23 times for 89 yards and a touchdown. Gabe Dutton-Mofford carried the ball 13 times for 117 yards and a touchdown. Coy Vrbka carried the ball nine times for 27 yards and scored two touchdowns.

Logan Lindsley gained 48 yards on 12 carries and a touchdown. The freshman quarterback also threw for a touchdown, completing 2-of-9 passes for 26 yards. Isaac Whitmore caught both passes from Lindsley for 26 yards.

On defense Whitmore intercepted two passes and deflected three others. Lindsley and Dalton Pokorney also intercepted passes for the Huskies. Pokorney took his interception and turned it into points. Collin Vrbka led Shelby-Rising City with nine tackles. Knoll finished with eight tackles. Landon Sliva finished with seven tackles.

Shelby-Rising City takes on Class D-1 No. 5 Clarkson/Leigh Friday on the road. The Patriots are unbeaten on the season and are coming off a 22-0 shutout of Bancroft-Rosalie. Kickoff is at 7 p.m.
