So, the local schools are still a few weeks away from getting report cards, but it’s time for a PCN Report Card.
I want to hear from you. What do we do well. What do we need to improve on? Do we cover all our communities equally? Do we cover our high school sports teams equally?
Do you want more news out of the schools? Do you want us to cover more government meetings such as city councils and school boards?
How are our photos? Are there any features we are missing? Do we need to dabble more with video?
Let us know! Email your thoughts to Alan, Beth, Kimberly and me. Email us at polkcountynews@yahoo.com.

KEEP YOUR LETTERS coming. It’s great that you guys are sending us your thoughts on the U.S. 81 construction project. Thanks to everyone who has written. Keep them coming. I know there are people in Lincoln in the State Senate who read our newspaper.
You sending a letter to the editor gets your opinion directly to the people who are voting on the bills that pay for the project.

I LIKE TELLING you guys about my kids from time to time.
I recently had the chance to take Charlie and Penny to a basketball game a few weeks ago. They have been begging me to go, but with four kids it is hard to convince my wife to tag along with me and Calvin and tackle Charlie, Penny and Timmy.
Well, we all loaded up the van and got to the game and I forgot to tell Charlie which team he was supposed to cheer for. We sat on the opposing team’s side (having friendly fans in the background of photos is better) and Charlie was cheering with the opposing fans.
Sorry about that. To tell you the truth he was cheering with you guys too. Honestly, I think he just liked being able to make as much noise as he wanted to.

BETH STOLE MY THUNDER this week talking about how hard it was to pick a male Athlete of the Week.
So if you read her column first you have already heard about this. Osceola’s Kale Gustafson breaks the school’s all-time rebounding record, Shelby-Rising City wrestling wins the CRC Title and finishes fourth at State Duals (while there, Justin Knoll gets his 100th win). On top of all that, High Plains and Cross County-Osceola had wrestlers win individual CRC Titles.
Keep it up. Don’t make it easy for us.
