January 24, 1931 - October 21,2023 Lawrence Frederick “Pete” Peterson, 92 passed away peacefully October 21, 2023 in Citrus Heights, California.

Frederick was born on January 24,1931 to Lawrence G/Margaret (Kohl) Peterson in Clarks.

Frederick attended Clarks High School (Class of 1949).

Pete joined the USAF in 1951, spent 20+ years in personnel until his retirement at McClellan AFB, Ca. He was stationed in Japan and US during the Korean War and Vietnam Some the bases he was stationed at were Johnson AB/FEAF Command, Edwards AFB, Beale AFB and Travis AFB. During his stay in Japan he led country and western bands as the Tama Valley Boys during his time off. He enjoyed singing and playing bass all through his life.

In September of 1957 he married Shizuko “Susie” Koga. They would live in Japan until they finally moved stateside to Travis AFB in 1967. After USAF retirement in 1972, Pete went to the US Postal Service as a letter carrier from 1973 to 1996 in Carmichael, California. He kept playing and singing country and western songs with various bands until the late 1990s. Frederick enjoyed for many years attending the Clarks High Alumni Banquet to visit family and friends Those remembering Frederick are his two sons (Bill E of Northampton MA and Larry L of Carmichael,CA); grandchildren: Duncan, Nicholas (Nick), and Michael; nieces Peggy Church, Jody and Bill Ziemba; nephew Ty Peterson; and many great (grand) nieces/nephews in Central Nebraska.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brother Waldo Peterson (Clarks), sister-in-law Anne Peterson, and nephew Tony. His wife of 66 years, Susie, recently passed away.

March 20, 1929 - July 19,2023 Susie K. Peterson, 94 passed away peacefully July 19,2023 in Citrus Heights, Ca Shizuko “Susie” Koga was born in Omuta Japan on March 20,1929 to Kumakichi & Makiyo Ogawa. She grew up in the Japanese southern island of Kyushu during the 1930s and 1940s until moving to Tokyo after World War II. In 1957, Susie married Lawrence F. Peterson, who was stationed in Japan while serving in the United StatesAir Force. Susie immigrated to the U.S. with her husband in 1967, where she lived for the rest of her life in northern California taking care of her family which soon included two sons.

In the Sacramento area, Susie spent many years learning and teaching Japanese arts and crafts including kabuki, shamisen (Japanese banjo), bonsai, ikebana (flower arranging), pottery, and folk dance. Throughout her life she performed at events that showcased Japanese and Asian culture throughout the state of California. She especially enjoyed performing at K-12 and college/university cultural art shows and festivals.

Those remembering Susie are her sons, Bill of Northampton, MA, and Larry of Carmichael, CA; three grandchildren, Duncan, Nicholas (Nick), and Michael; nieces Peggy Church and Jody (and Bill) Ziemba, and nephew Ty Peterson; and many great (grand) nieces/nephews in Central Nebraska and in Japan.

She is preceded in death by her parents, sister, and nephew Shinichi. Her husband of 66 years, Lawrence, survives her.
