Betty Berger

Betty Joyce Berger, 86, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 25, 2026, with her beloved husband, Dennis, by her side.

Betty was born on October 13, 1939, to Verner and Doris Gustafson in Stromsburg, Nebraska. She grew up on the family farm alongside her sisters, Elaine and Bonnie, and her brother Marvin, and graduated from Stromsburg High School in 1957. After high school, she worked for Nebraska Life Insurance in Lincoln. On November 14, 1959, Betty married the love of her life, Dennis Berger. Together they built a life centered on faith, family, and love. She was preceded in death by her son Patrick Alan Berger; her parents, Verner and Doris Gustafson; her parents in-law; her sisters, Elaine Hennings and Bonnie Clay; her brother Marvin Gustafson; and her brother-in-law, Harl Hennings.

Betty is survived by her husband of nearly 67 years; her son,Mitchell Shawn Berger; her granddaughters, Britney and Nyna; her four great grandchildren; along with many extended family members, friends and neighbors who were blessed to know her.

Betty was a member of the Kinsmen Lutheran Church for 42 years. The family will honor Betty’s life privately. While our hearts are heavy, we find comfort knowing her legacy lives on in every quilt lovingly stitched, every cookie baked, every garden tended, and every lesson she quietly taught through a life well lived.
