Katherine M. Reichstein passed away at the age of 84 on December 14, 2021 at Providence Place in Hastings, Nebraska.

Katherine was born in Stromsburg, Nebraska on November 3, 1937, to Orley W. and Thelma Donelson Conkling.

She was the eldest of five children, Her sisters are Margaret Eickmeier (Seward, NE), Donita Satterwhite (Grand Prairie, TX), and brothers Don Conkling (Osceola, NE) and Scott Conkling (Osceola, NE), both deceased.

She graduated from Stromsburg High School in 1954 and graduated from Kearney State College with a degree in Education.

Katherine married Clifford Reichstein in 1957, at the Stromsburg Baptist Church, and they lived in Newell, South Dakota, where their children Julie Ann and Jeffrey Eugene were born.

She started her career with the USPS in Newell as a front desk clerk. The family moved to Columbia, Missouri in June 1973, to continue life’s journey.

Kathie continued to work for the Postal service for 26+ years in Missouri and then back home in Nebraska, her final post office job was in Beatrice as Postmaster.

Kathie loved to travel and entertain friends with great food and card games; her homemade cinnamon rolls were the best, along with a few other great recipes. She was always on the go, doing what she loved and enjoyed life. She attended a lot of sporting events while in Missouri and Nebraska. Football and basketball were her favorites, GO BIG RED!

Katherine married Clyde Sachtleben of Hastings on April 21 2012. They traveled and enjoyed life together for nine years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Julie (1989), husband, Cliff (2005), brothers Don (2015) and Scott Conkling (2012), and brothers-in-law, Alvin Eickmeier and Kenneth Satterwhite (2020).

A celebration of life service will be held at First Presbyterian Church in Hastings at 10 am on April 9, 2022, followed by a graveside urn burial next to her family members, Cliff and Julie Reichstein at 1 pm at the Stromsburg Cemetery.

Family and friends are invited to the 4th Street Coffee Shop in Stromsburg, April 9, 2022 from 2-4 pm for refreshments and in remembrance of Kathie.
