Lotus Yungdahl
Lotus Ann Yungdahl, age 93, of Stromsburg, Nebraska, passed away September 9, 2026 at theYork General Hospital in York.
Visitation will be held Monday, September 14, 2026 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Dubas Funeral Home in Osceola. A private family graveside service will be held at the Osceola Cemetery with Pastor Leonard Suhr officiating.
Lotus was born October 8, 1932, in Shenandoah, Iowa, to Richard Neal Davis and Vera Smith Davis. She graduated from Shenandoah High School in 1950. She lived in several communities throughout Nebraska and Iowa, including Omaha, Fort Dodge, Columbus, Osceola, Lincoln and Stromsburg.
Lotus dedicated her working life to caring for others as a Registered Nurse. She attended the Immanuel Hospital School of Nursing in Omaha, Nebraska, where she received her nursing education. Throughout her career, she worked as an RN at Columbus Hospital, Annie Jeffrey Hospital, and numerous hospitals in the surrounding area. Later, while living in Lincoln, she worked at Harris Laboratory until her retirement.
Lotus was united in marriage to Donald A. Yungdahl on June 6, 1955 in Shenandoah, Iowa. Together they built a family and shared many years of marriage before Donald’s passing.
Family was one of the most important parts of Lotus’s life. She was a loving mother to Tom (Kris) Yungdahl of Osceola and Sue (Terry) Nienhueser of York and a proud grandmother to three grandchildren: Hayley (Chris) Palm, Libby (Stephen) Rundgren, and Ethan (Claire) Yungdahl. She treasured the time she spent with her children and grandchildren and loved creating special memories with them.
Lotus had a special way of making holidays and family gatherings something everyone looked forward to. She always made Halloween and the holidays so special for her grandchildren. Every Christmas she would have her grandchildren decorate her Christmas tree, turning it into a treasured family tradition. She loved having everyone together, playing card and board games, laughing, and enjoying each other’s company. Some of the best memories were made around the table playing Spoons, where the laughter could go on and on. Those simple moments of togetherness are memories her kids and grandchildren will treasure forever.
Lotus also enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. She loved musicals, crocheting having coffee and visiting with friends and putting together puzzles – both on her own and with her grandchildren. She was also an avid Nebraska sports fan. She especially loved watching and cheering on the Huskers, proudly following her favorite teams and enjoying the excitement of Nebraska sports.
Lotus was preceded in death by her husband Donald A. Yungdahl; her parents, Richard and Vera Davis; brothers Gary Davis, Robert Davis and Richard Davis; and sister Marge Holms.
Her life was one of caring for others, dedication to her family, friendship, laughter and countless everyday moments that became cherished memories. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her family and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
