Stephen “Steve” Vance Johnson, born on July 7, 1948 in Stromsburg, Nebraska, left this world on March 14, 2024 (age 75). He was a beloved husband, father, brother, friend and more, whose presence touched the lives of many. Steve’s legacy and sense of humor will forever remain etched in our hearts.

Steve graduated from Stromsburg High School in 1966; attended Trinity College in Deerfield, IL for two years before enlisting in the United States Navy. After his honorary discharge from the Navy, Steve returned to Stromsburg in 1973 to go into business with his father and brother, Paul at Johnson Chrysler Plymouth. In 1984 he moved to the Kansas City area where he continued to work in the automotive industry.

He is predeceased by his parents, Ralph and Irene Johnson. Steve is survived by his devoted wife of 37 years, Kelly Johnson, and their son, Vance Johnson. He is also survived by siblings Paul, David, James, Joel, and their families.

Steve lived a life of adventure through snow skiing, water skiing, scuba diving, riding motorcycles and engaging in battles on the paintball field with his son and friends. He was also known for sitting out in the driveway and enjoyed exchanging pleasantries with the neighbors. Steve was known for his warmth, consideration of others, sense of humor, generosity, and unwavering loyalty to those he held dear. Steve’s zest for life was contagious and he inspired those around him.

ACelebration of Life was held on Saturday March 23rd in Parkville, Missouri.
