September in Nebraska means harvest and taxes. Unfortunately, our local governments tend to combine the two issues into ‘harvesting taxes’. It is becoming obvious that the citizens of Nebraska no longer have ‘local control’of their taxes; if we did, we would stop the ever-increasing valuations on our properties and our local governments would create budgets to operate within their means...
