Keeping Land Ports of Entry Open
In December, President Biden’s team shut down two border rail crossings in Eagle Pass and El Paso, Texas. The administration also falsely implied the closures were necessary for enforcement.

Superbowl commercials left me scratching my head
Rick Holtz
The Superbowl has come and gone, and if I am honest, the commercials left a lot to be desired.
Sure, you had some good ones. But there was not really any one commercial that left me laughing like they have in previous years.
I always love when the E-Trade Baby makes an appearance.

Don’t Lie To Me
Alan Sparrow
If you want to see me get upset, lie to me. I have a low tolerance for liars. Perhaps the worst lies are the ones that I want to believe. I need to hear the truth. I won’t learn anything if I’m never challenged to see things a different way.

Biden’s Border Bill Doesn’t Get the Job Done
Pete Ricketts
NEBRASKA SENATOR
President Joe Biden claims he needs new legislation to secure our southern border. That’s just not true. President Trump brought border crossings to a 45year low. He used the same laws currently available to Biden. Biden is just playing politics and refusing to do his job.

I’m Not Sure That I Love This Program
J. L. Schmidt - Capitol View
I’m sure that a year ago the Revitalize Rural Nebraska Grant Program proposed by Sen. Myron Dorn of Adams and passed by the Legislature sounded like a great deal.

Secure the Border
Representing You
At the end of January, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) arrested a terrorist in Minnesota. He crossed our southern border in early 2023, and he roamed freely across our country for almost a year before being detained.

School Bills at State Level
Jana Hughes
Four of the eight bills I introduced this session had hearings this week. I previously shared information about one of those bills, LB875, which would prevent alcohol from being sold less than cost with certain exceptions related to the age of the product.

Taylor Swift at the Big Game
Beth Sparrow
I assume most of you watched the big game (known as the Super Bowl, although we can’t use that in ads) on Sunday. My daughter and I are Taylor Swift fans. We watched The Eras Tour at a movie theater. I have about ten of her albums.

If It Saves Just One Life
Alan Sparrow
ALAN’S ANECDOTES
Statistically, slow drivers cause more accidents and speeders cause more deaths. Setting speed limits slower saves lives. Maybe the Federal Highway Administration should set the national maximum speed limit to thirty miles per hour.
