Clean Drinking Water

Access to clean drinking water is vital to the health and well being of Nebraskans. The Nebraska Department of Environment and Energy (NDEE) is currently administering two very important programs to help resolve issues with two common contaminants of drinking water, lead and nitrates.

My son is a talker. I tell people he’s afraid that he will suffocate if he stops talking. But to be honest, he comes by it naturally. My dad and both his brothers are conversationalists, too. You don’t start a conversation with any of them unless you have some time, but it’s worth it.

ALAN’S ANECDOTES I enjoy learning word meanings. Sometimes the history of a word’s meaning is very interesting. One of those words is “amuse.” It comes from “muse” which means to “think” and “a” meaning “not.” So “amuse” means to “not think.” I think that fits.

Home Alone

BETH’S BITS I felt a little bit like Kevin McAllister over Thanksgiving. If you don’t remember who that is, he is the kid from the “Home Alone” movies. My husband and kids went to Indiana to visit his family. The cat and I stayed home, so I could work and cover the lighting of the square.
