ALAN’S ANECDOTES Beth and I talked to a fellow newspaper owner in the state who said that it is rare for a husband and wife to both write a column. I hadn’t really thought about it before. We both like to write, and we have different topics that we pursue. I’m glad we’re able to do it.

REPRESENTING YOU When I ran for the Nebraska Legislature and then for the U.S. Senate, I promised to advocate for each person I represent. In urban Washington, rural voices can sometimes be neglected and undervalued.

REPRESENTING YOU The Nebraska Legislature was tasked this year with passing photo voter identification after nearly two-thirds of Nebraska voters approved it as a ballot measure in 2022.

Phone Quirks and Rain

BETH’S BITS I have a love-hate relationship with my cell phone. Most of the time I love it. It takes great pictures (which is why I bought it), so far it has enough space for apps that I need and want, and keeps me connected.

It’s Been an Interesting Session

Hello friends! Another month is in the books and 2023 is just flying by. It feels like just yesterday that we were battling snow and ice and now we are dealing with the sun and bugs. The legislature is getting ready to wrap up its session in the coming days and it sure has been an interesting one.

Avoiding the Travelogue Life

ALAN’S ANECDOTES When I was in college I worked in the custodial department. One of the jobs I got to do was setup for and attend events. We had a number of popular (at the time) Christian singers come through our college, but the events that were more memorable for me were the travelogues.
