Husker fans rocked with Saturday’s 38-17 Memorial Stadium victory over North Dakota, and their (soon rival) Oklahoma Sooners celebrated a 45-13 home victory over University of Texas - El Paso.
I thought how fortunate the Sooners are to have Brett Venables at the (head coaching) helm, given the abrupt departure of Lincoln Riley.
Venables exudes ENTHUSIASM -- to those on the field, in the stands or arm-chair-quarterbacking via wide screen televisions viewed from cushy recliners.
Yes, once again WEEKENDS mean FOOTBALL, with respective line ups usually involving high school Fridays (GO BULLDOGS!), college Saturdays and pro Sundays.
FOOD becomes a HUGE part of football gatherings - whether tailgating or involving simple kitchen klatches or related buffets.
I sure goofed this past Saturday, for craving pizza while lacking related ingredients or any frozen form.
Yes, PIZZA, with that wonderful crust, laden with zesty sauce, covered with meats and veggies and further enhanced by a generous topping of melted cheese! YUM!
It suddenly seems so quiet that I wonder if the dear readers bolted for their kitchens or for the nearest pizza sources! Perhaps someday we can access local pizza delivery for sharing with family and friends engrossed with televised weekend games. And that might become a great source of increased revenue for our nice vendors.
Yes, FOOTBALL has become ingrained in our culture, surely to continually span the generations!
