AJHC Announces Scholarship Recipients

In 1956, Polk County received a generous gift from Dr. Charles W. Jeffrey. As a memorial to his mother Annie, Dr. Jeffrey donated funds to help build a new hospital in Osceola. Thanks to Dr.

OSCEOLA 5TH GRADE WAX MUSEUM

Armed with handfuls of quarters, a group of parents, family, and community members waited outside the north Osceola school gym Thursday April 25 for the wax museum to open. Principal Brett Webster said a few words thanking the attendees, then the crowd proceeded through the doors.

Annie Jeffrey Thrift Store Has New Location

OSCEOLA - It’s out with the old, in with the new at the Annie Jeffrey Thrift Store. The new shop opened up on January 12, just west of the old storefront on the Osceola town square.

DeMers Selected for Best of the Best

Matthew DeMers has been selected by the NSAA to represent Entertainment Speaking. This achievement can be compared to super state in sports or all-class gold. Matthew went up against all state champions in all classes to be selected for this honor.

AREA SPEECH-LETES PLACE WELL

KEARNEY - State Speech was held on Wednesday through Friday last week. Class A and B were on Wedneday with Class C on Thursday and Class D on Friday. Thursday Cross County and Shelby-Rising City competed. Cross County’s one qualifier was Ellasyn Pinkelman in humorous.

District 37 School to be Torn Down

OSCEOLA - After having the last lesson in May of 1955, it is time for the district 37 school building to come down. The original school building was located northeast of Osceola. No information can be found on when it was built and when it was first used as a school.
