Renew Now! Subscriptions Going Up January 1, 2023

Due to rising costs of gas and postage, subscription prices are going up as of January 1st. An annual subscription in Nebraska will be $40 (an increase of $5) and out of Nebraska will be $45 (also an increase of $5). This is still a great deal, and more comparable to other newspapers our size.

LINCOLN, Neb.– Tuesday, Nebraska Governor Pete Ricketts announced his intention to seek the appointment to serve as the state’s next U.S. senator.

St. Paul Lutheran Christmas Program

A Christmas program titled “The Shepherd’s Story” will be presented by the young people at St. Paul Lutheran in Osceola. This will be during the 10:45 a.m. church service on Sunday, December 11th. All are welcome to come enjoy the program and stay for cookies and coffee following the program.

Immunization Clinics Dec. 14, 19

The Polk County Health Department will hold immunization clinics at the Polk County Health Department in Osceola on Wednesday, December 14th from 1:30 to 3:30 and Monday, December 19th from 3:30 to 5:30. An appointment is required for compliance to the COVID-19 directives.

Polk County was hit with the first true snowfall of the season this week. Tuesday morning started with a freezing rain and sleet. By mid-morning the freezing rain turned over to a blowing snow.

County Elects New County Attorney

OSCEOLA — Polk County is losing our attorneys. Polk County attorney Ronald Colling will be hanging up his hat soon, as well as Stromsburg city attorney Jim Papik. That left some towns looking for a new city/ village attorney and the county looking for one also.

Turkey Winners Come From Clarks, Osceola, Shelby and Stromsburg

Sixteen families are feasting on turkeys this holiday season after winning a free turkey in the Polk County News Turkey Giveaway. More than 160 entries were submitted into the contest this year. Readers were given a chance to cutout the entry form and return it to 16 locations around Polk County.
