Watch Out For West Nile Virus

West Nile Virus is the leading disease carried by mosquitos in the continental United States. It is spread through the bite of a mosquito that has picked up the virus by feeding on an infected bird. In turn, the mosquito can pass the virus to humans.

POLK — There is a familiar face in the stacks at the library.
Becky Carlstrom recently became the librarian at the Polk Library. While new in the position, she is no stranger to residents of Polk. Carlstrom has worked as a special needs paraprofessional for High Plains Schools for nearly 35 years.

From school maintenance to summer camps, meals or teachers working to improve ahead of the next school year, schools are staying busy.
