Raymond Alt of Shelby will celebrate his 97th birthday November 9th. He has three children: Ron (Laura) Alt of Shelby, Michelle (Doug) Hunter of Hickman, and Susan (Doug) Anno of Lincoln, eight grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

Farm Community Assists Peterson Family

Farmers from Stromsburg, Polk, Hordville and Clarks rallied around the Peterson family over the weekend to help bring in the harvest following the death of Nate Peterson, who died in a car accident September 16.

Polk County Court Clerks Recognized

Jodie Roberts, Clerk Magistrate and Ex Officio Clerk of the District Court in Polk County and Assistant Clerk Mykaela Dishong took on numerous additional responsibilities during a recent period of staffing transitions in the 5th Judicial District.

Shelby-Rising City recently honored members of the FFA for earning their blue, corduroy jackets. These students are now a part of the organization that dates back to 1928.

Halloween Costume Story Hour is Oct. 27 The Shelby Community Library Story Hour will be Thursday, October 27 from 3:40 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Wear your Halloween costume and spook everyone! Children ages preschool Through 2nd Grade are invited to attend.

Immunization Clinics Nov. 9, 21

The Polk County Health Department will hold immunization clinics at the Polk County Health Department in Osceola on Wednesday, November 9th from 3:30 to 5:30 and Monday, November 21st from 3:30 to 5:30. An appointment is required for compliance to the COVID-19 directives.

Mountain Lion Lottery Application Period

The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission will accept lottery applications for mountain lion permits November 7 – December 14, 2022, for the 2023 hunting season. Permits are available only to Nebraska residents, who may have one permit per calendar year.
