STROMSBURG — The Polk County offense came alive against Ord on Thursday,
The Slammers (12-4) scored three runs in the first inning and added two insurance runs in the third to take control of the Chanticleers (1-9), beating them 11-3 in five innings.
The Slammers slugged out 11 hits in the game. Courtney Sunday went 3-for-4 with five RBI. Emma Recker went 2-for-2 with a triple. Savannah Boden turned two walks into two runs. Charisa Boden stole two bases.
Sunday pitched five innings, scattering four hits, striking out three batters and walking four. She threw 101 pitches in the contest.
The Slammers travel to Gothenburg on Tuesday to take on Gothenburg and Kearney Catholic.
