BRUNING — Cross County stayed unbeaten with a 3-1 road win over Class D-1 No. 6 Bruning-Davenport/Shickley Tuesday night.
The Cougars (3-0) took a two set lead, 25-23, 28-26, before the Eagles (5-2) bounced back to take the third set, 25-14. Cross County closed out the match with a 26-24 fourth set victory.
The Cougars were led at the net by senior Bren Lemburg as she hammered a team-high 10 kills, but the Cougars’ balance and variable attacks kept the Eagles off-balance. Lilly Peterson added 9 kills and Jayden Fellows had 7. Taylor Lindburg finished with 5 aces.
Bricelynn Larson anchored the defense with 4 blocks. Sydney Hengelfelt had 17 digs and Shyanne Anderson added 13. Lemburg finished with 12 digs. Anderson set the table for her teammates, finishing with 24 assists.
Cross County is back in action on Thursday when they take on Central City on the road.
