STROMSBURG-The Cross County Cougars took a huge step in the right direction Friday night as they took down a traditional giant in Class C-2 football, the Battle Creek Braves 35-14 in their season opener.
Last year the Cougars faltered in the second half at Battle Creek and lost their first game in 11-man football in several years 41-6 after a being right with the Braves at the half.
