Why is golf so difficult?

Sometimes it amazes me how fast a golf swing can go south.

There was a time, (not recently) that I played golf two to three times per week and because of the repetition you build up from swinging the club over and over I was pretty happy with how I played. But I got angry a lot easier as well when I hit a bad shot.
