There I was, sitting in a Southwest Airlines jet headed to Florida, watching Cross County’s volleyball team on my computer as the Cougars played Morrill HS in the Class D-1 district finals on the first day of November, hanging on every point before the girls in blue scratched out a five-set win and earned a state bid.
