Cross County Student Qualifies for FCCLA National Finals

The competition included teams from across the nation, all looking to place among the top 8 in order to qualify for the national final round. Cross County’s Yeira Ramirez achieved that feat.

Rafert Recognized by School Board

Renew Now! Subscriptions Going Up January 1, 2023

Due to rising costs of gas and postage, subscription prices are going up as of January 1st. An annual subscription in Nebraska will be $40 (an increase of $5) and out of Nebraska will be $45 (also an increase of $5). This is still a great deal, and more comparable to other newspapers our size.

GriefShare Concludes Their Season

Wayne & Gayleen Nestor indicate that the GriefShare they led has just completed their 13 week journey toward healing. The group met weekly, each Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. They report that eight people have walked along side one another through the GriefShare classes this Fall.

Immunization Clinics Dec. 19

The Polk County Health Department will hold immunization clinics at the Polk County Health Department in Osceola on Monday, December 19th from 3:30 to 5:30. An appointment is required for compliance to the COVID-19 directives.

Tour of Homes in Stromsburg a Success

STROMSBURG — Saturday was a busy day in Stromsburg with seven homes available to tour from 1-5 p.m. This event was sponsored by the Stromsburg Chamber of Commerce, and attendees were to give a free will offering to support the Chamber’s garage project.

Cross County One-Act Finishes as Runner-up at District Competition

STROMSBURG — Cross County finished as runner-up at the One-Act recently at Centennial High School. The production missed qualifying for State by four points. Aquinas won the district with 179 points to Cross County’s 175 points. Cross County competed in the Class C1-2 District.

Swedish Exchange Student Comes to Stromsburg

Tuva Franklin, Swedish exchange student attending York High School attending Konditori. Following her visit, she went with her host family to Larsson Dala Butik. She is active in One Act and will be in York until graduation. She remarked the desserts were very similar to the ones in Sweden.
