It’s a Priority

This session of the Legislature saw the introduction of more than 800 bills. While not quite a record for the number of bills introduced, it was pretty close. I was on the low end among my colleagues, having only introduced 8 bills myself. I designated LB584 as my priority bill for this session.

Last week the Legislature completed the initial round of debate and consideration of LB753, the Opportunity Scholarship Act.

Gun Debate Continues

Last week the Unicameral held the first round of debate on LB77, a bill that would allow Nebraskans to carry a concealed firearm without a permit. Last year, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in a 6-3 opinion in New York State Pistol and Rifle Association v.

You’re the Second House

Each year March heralds the coming of spring, which means the Nebraska State Basketball Tournaments and March Madness are just around the corner.All these wonderful events bring participation from Nebraskans across our great state. March also coincides with a lot of activity in the Unicameral.

My Time at Our Southern Border

This weekend, I had the opportunity to visit our southern border and see firsthand the chaos occurring there. Our trip to the Rio Grande Valley reaffirmed that what is going on at our border is nothing short of a national security crisis.

The Highlight of My Job

Constituents often ask me in person or in their letters what my favorite part of serving as your Senator is. I always give the same answer: returning to Nebraska and hearing directly from you, my fellow Nebraskans. That is what I did this past week while the Senate was in recess.
