Cougars Dominate Titans in Subdistrict Opener

STROMSBURG — Ashton Seim scored 17 points and Cross County scored the game’s first 11 points to end suspense early during a 72-36 victory Tuesday over Twin River in a C2-8 subdistrict semifinal contest at the Cougars’ gym.

8 Area Wrestlers Return with Medals

OMAHA — Polk County was well-represented at the CHI Health Center Arena in Omaha. County schools sent 12 wrestlers and eight found themselves on the medal stand on Saturday.   SRC: Justin Knoll (160 pounds) would first wrestle Varner of Hemingford and pinned him in 3:13.

Cougars Rally to Beat Broncos to win C2-7 Subdistrict

STROMSBURG — Cross County High’s girls basketball coach Mitch Boshart knew before last Friday’s C2-7 sub-district final that his team had gone unbeaten this season when the Cougars produced 40 points or more.

FRIEND  —  After a nip-and-tuck first three quarters, Cross County’s varsity boys basketball team closed out its game at Friend by scoring on its final 11 possessions to win its final regular season game 68-58 over the Bulldogs Friday night.

Boys Basketball Subdistrict Opponents Announced

The boys subdistrict pairings were released earlier this week and area teams have begun their journey to Lincoln. Osceola has the hardest path forward in the D2-3 Subdistrict, with four teams with winning records in the field.

No. 10 Cougars Advance to Subdistrict Final on Thursday

STROMSBURG — A year ago, Cross County slogged through a 22-16 first-round sub-district win over St. Thomas Aquinas while Shyanne Anderson spent most of the night on the bench after injuring an ankle.

Area Teams Sending 12 to State

Polk County will be well-represented this weekend at State wrestling as 12 wrestlers have qualified to compete. Cross County/Osceola qualified one wrestler. High Plains has five wrestlers competing at State. Shelby- Rising City is sending a school record six wrestlers to Omaha.
