The High Plains track team is expecting to challenge a lot of school records and take more people to state this season. Coach Darius Williams believes there are several returning players and newcomers who will be strong contenders.

Meet Superintendent Brown, Coming to HPC

Jason Brown, currently the superintendent of Bertrand Community School, will be the new High Plains Community Schools superintendent starting the 202425 school year. “I’m excited to move over to the district and get started at High Plains Community Schools,” he said.

High Plains Girls Crowned District Runner Up

DUNNING - The Storm season missed out on a trip to State by one game. High Plains (16-9) saw their season come to an end on Friday, falling to 54-28 to Sandhills/ Thedford with a trip to Lincoln on the line.

Eight out of Eleven Guaranteed a Medal

OMAHA — High Plains has three guaranteed for a medal, Cross County-Osceola has their lone wrestler getting a medal, and Shelby-Rising City has four in medal-winning position after one day of state wrestling in Omaha. Dakota Gress (G120) came in to the middle of the pack of girls.

State Wrestling Preview

OMAHA– Ten boys and one girl are off to Omaha for state wrestling. This is the pinnacle of their career in an individual sport. For Dakota Gress, a sophomore at High Plains, she is a pioneer for girls’ wrestling. She wrestled last year as a freshman. This year she is state bound with a 28-9 record.

Class C District 1 (CCO) 126: Devin Nuttelman (41-8) placed 2nd and scored 18.0 team points. Champ. Round 1 - Devin Nuttelman (CCO, 41-8) received a bye. Quarterfinal - Devin Nuttelman won by fall over Gage Brown (Thayer Central, 20-14) in 3:07.

Lady Storm Beat Eagles in OT

The High Plains Storm girls beat the Bruning-Davenport Shickley Eagles in a flash on Friday the 9th, after a long, evenly matched battle.
