HPC Wrestling at Ravenna & HPC/SRC at Winside

RAVENNA - High Plains wrestled at the Dom Riecks Invitational in Ravenna. At 120 pounds, Levi Russell placed third with teammate Hudson Urkoski placing fourth. Lance Russell came in second at 132 pounds. Gage Friesen placed second at 144 pounds. Wyatt Urkoski placed first at 175 pounds.

POLK – High Plains honored three people and a team and inducted them into their Hall of Fame. It’s been two years since the last induction. The ceremony took place Saturday night between junior varsity and varsity basketball games. First up was Roger Merchant.

Lady Storm Builds on Experience

POLK - “Our team is really coming together,” says Head Coach Megan Bruce of the High Plains High School Girls Basketball team. The starters are Gahvrielle Lesiak, Courtney Carlstrom, Peyton Hofmann, RyleeAckerson, and Allie Howell. Returning player Peyton Hofmann averaged 7.

With five returning state qualifiers, and more promising talent, High Plains has high hopes for wrestling this season. Their team consists of nine boys and two girls.

D2 District Football Honors Announced

As D2-5 District champion Osceola had six named to the first team, two to second team and five honorable mentions. They were 5-0 in the district. High Plains came in second in the district (4-1) and had five named to the first team, two to the second, and three honorable mention.

High Plains Finishes Season 5-4

NEBRASKA CITY - High Plains traveled to Nebraska to face Lourdes Central Catholic in their playoff game. The Knights would get the ball from the Storm kickoff and take it in right away for a kickoff return touchdown. The two-point conversion was good.

Osceola Beats High Plains 3-1

POLK - In the regular season finale for both teams, Osceola would travel to Polk last Friday, October 20th to play High Plains. The Lady Storm would win the first set 25-18, but the Lady Bulldogs would take the next three by identical 25-23 scores to win the match three games to one.

High Plains Gets the Win Over Fullerton

CLARKS — Track season came early on Friday as High Plains ran the ball all night on their way to a 32-20 win over Fullerton to close out the regular season. The Storm used the ground-andpound offense to keep the chains moving and the clock running. High Plains ran the ball 49 times for 350 yards.
