8 Area Wrestlers Return with Medals

OMAHA — Polk County was well-represented at the CHI Health Center Arena in Omaha. County schools sent 12 wrestlers and eight found themselves on the medal stand on Saturday.   SRC: Justin Knoll (160 pounds) would first wrestle Varner of Hemingford and pinned him in 3:13.

Bulldogs Wrap Regular Season with Win over Storm

POLK — The Osceola Bulldogs closed out their regular season with a trip to Polk to take on the High Plains Storm and came back with a 63-41 victory, raising their record to 21-2 and extended their winning streak to 14 games.

Bulldogs ‘Survive and Advance’ with Overtime win over Storm

OSCEOLA — It’s win-or-go-home and neither team was finished after four quarters. Osceola defeated High Plains 43-38 in overtime on Thursday to claim the D2-3 Subdistrict Title. The Bulldogs jumped out to a fast start, opening the game on a 10-0 run.

Boys Basketball Subdistrict Opponents Announced

The boys subdistrict pairings were released earlier this week and area teams have begun their journey to Lincoln. Osceola has the hardest path forward in the D2-3 Subdistrict, with four teams with winning records in the field.

Hofmann Leads Team to Subdistrict Win

High Plains played Palmer in the first round of subdistricts Tuesday night at Osceola. Freshman Peyton Hofmann had a big night, scoring a career-high 27 points for the Storm, which would’ve been enough to beat Palmer by herself. The final score was 50-21.

Area Teams Sending 12 to State

Polk County will be well-represented this weekend at State wrestling as 12 wrestlers have qualified to compete. Cross County/Osceola qualified one wrestler. High Plains has five wrestlers competing at State. Shelby- Rising City is sending a school record six wrestlers to Omaha.

High Plains Drops Close one to BDS at Home

POLK — High Plains hosted BDS Friday with the Eagles starting the game first getting the first basket. The Storm would miss a couple, but BDS also struggled. Carter Urkoski would come up with a basket and two free throws to put the Storm just ahead 4-2.

Lady Storm Celebrate Seniors in Final Home Game

POLK — The Lady Storm hosted the BDS Lady Eagles last Friday evening. After seniors Hailey Lindburg and Emily Ackerson were recognized, the game was on. BDS was ready to go, scoring first. The Storm came back with a basket from Rylee Ackerson and Peyton Hofmann. It was 6-4 with BDS ahead.

Girls Basketball Subdistrict Opponents Announced

Polk County girls’ basketball teams learned their postseason path on Thursday when the NSAA announced subdistrict host sites and pairings. Cross County and Shelby-Rising City could face off in a C2 subdistrict final, while Osceola and High Plains could face off in a D2 subdistrict final.
