On Monday, September 10th, the Shelby Rural Fire department was dispatched to a fire at 129th road and highway 69 south of Shelby. Approximately five acres of beans and 30 acres of combined corn ground were lost, but no one was injured.
The fourth graders were going to the Polk County Historical Society museum on September 20.
