Named Roads

A very interesting item to turn up at the PCHS Museum was the 1922 Standard Oil road map. It was produced just as the old practice of using names to identify routes rather than numbers was going out of style, and the new system of highway numbers replaced names. This map is valuable because it marks roads both ways, and shows the schemes of colored bands painted on telephone poles along the way...
