Crystal Ann Peterson graduated from Wayne State College December 13 with a bachelor of science degree in community service counseling.

Among those attending the Nebraska Farmers Union Annual Convention in Kearney December 9-11 were Eugene and Jeanette Gabel, Bob Lux, Ted Pandorf and Richard Hiemer.

Irma Voss, Patty Davis and Marge Peterson were among 30 women who attended a health education consortium in David City. The ladies are employed at Annie Jeffrey Hospital in Osceola.

SIXTY YEARS AGO

December 14, 1961

Mr. and Mrs. Homer Brigham moved into their new home last Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Schlesinger have purchased and will move into the house vacated by the Brighams.

Students from Shelby attending the University of Nebraska this semester are Judith Blevins, Larry Daum, Lyle Marsden and Deanna Thelen.

December 13, 1951

Mr. and Mrs. George Hasselbalch and Richard Thelen returned home Sunday from Crawford where they had been deer hunting. They brought home two deer.

Mr. and Mrs. Dean Kearney and Kathy of Columbus were visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Dunning Sunday. All drove to Minden that evening to see the Christmas lights. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Filinger and son moved Saturday from the Dobias apartments to the Derold Abbott residence in west Shelby.

Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Euse and family and Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Hiemer were among relatives and friends who gathered at the Alfred Kuhnel home Sunday and surprised Mrs. Kuhnel on her birthday anniversary. The families of Raleigh Michener and Donald Michener of Lincoln, Jack Wills of Osceola and Arthur Buchholz held a family reunion and birthday party at the home of Mr. and Mrs. W.B. Michener. W.B. Michener’s birthday was celebrated.
