Remainder of November SNAP Benefits Issued to Nebraskans

Lincoln, NE – Today, the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) distributed the remaining balance of November Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits to all Nebraska recipients.This disbursement brings households to their full monthly SNAP amount for November.

Gov. Pillen Appoints Derek Vaughn as Associate Supreme Court Justice

LINCOLN – Today, Governor Jim Pillen announced his appointment of the Honorable Derek Ray Vaughn of Omaha to the Nebraska Supreme Court, representing the Second Judicial District. His appointment fills the vacancy left by Justice Miller-Lerman who stepped down Oct. 31 after 33 years of service.

Polk County NewsSTROMSBURG - Veterans’ Day program was on Tuesday, and one veteran was honored and another received a quilt of valor.This Quilt of Valor was sewn by Sawyer Mundt, through our Quilts of Valor 4-H workshop. It was awarded to Gordon Olsen.

ATV Accident Takes Life of One

ATV/Pedestrian accident 1 mile south of highway 66 on County Road C happened in Polk County on Thursday, November 6th about 5:18 pm.According to Polk County Sheriff Ladwig, the driver of the ATV was Nicholas Rodine, age 42, of Polk.

OSCEOLA PRESENTS 5 QOV ON VETERANS’ DAY

OSCEOLA - Osceola held Veterans’ Day services on Tuesday, where all veterans were honored. Five were awarded a Quilt of Valor.1. James Langer -- James served in the Army National Guard from 1965-1971. He was stationed at Fort Jackson in South Carolina and Fort Dix in New Jersey.

Shelby-Rising City Wins CC One Act Invite

STROMSBURG - Cross County hosted One Act on Saturday with nine schools performing. Three of them were our county schools: Cross County, Osceola and Shelby-Rising City.Shelby-Rising City came out with first place with their play “The Last Illusion” by Dwayne Craft.

Two Accidents on Tuesday and a Lurker on Sunday

STROMSBURG - Tuesday (Nov. 4th) was a busy day in Polk County, as there was an accident north of Stromsburg in the morning which took all day to clean up and one after school at Cross County.Information about the semi accident north of Stromsburg will be released later, and in next week’s issue.
