Blood Pressure Clinics

Clinics to monitor blood pressure will also be held each Tuesday of the month. They will be held at the Senior Center and rotate between each town in Polk County.

PCHS Meeting

The Polk County Historical Society Budget Hearing will begin at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 09, 2025 at the Stromsburg Senior Center and continue until attendee testimony is concluded.The regular monthly board meeting will commence immediately after adjournment of the hearing.

STATE FAIR WELL ATTENDED

GRAND ISLAND - The Nebraska State Fair reportedly had a good number of attendees, thanks in part to weather in the 70s.Last weekend was 4-H and Labor Day weekend FFA competitions were held along with the high school rodeo.Rodeo results were not available at press time.

SLOW DOWN OR PAY MORE

LINCOLN – LB530 goes into effect September 3rd. That means it’s already in effect as you’re reading this. Included in this are increases to fines for speeding, as well as the death of an unborn child by motor vehicle and passing a stopped vehicle. This law was passed June 6, 2025.

PCN Available OTC in Polk

For years, we have had newspapers available over-the-counter in Stromsburg (three locations), Osceola (two locations) and Shelby (one location). As Polk doesn’t have a grocery store or convenience store, we haven’t had copies available there.
Signs like these were in the local towns for Bargains for You on 92. Local sellers reported good traffic, and a number of people were out shopping. Blevins Wins Week 1

The football contest is underway and Trevor Blevins is the winner of the first week, missing only two.Coming in second was Ken Zelasney, missing four and seven people missed five.There were 31 entries this week. Many people thought Alabama would win, but Florida State won handily 31-17.
