The Candle of Peace

This Sunday in church, you probably lit the Advent candle of peace.Peace is probably not what some of us think about at Christmas. The hustle and bustle of Christmas: buying gifts, sending cards, decorating, making food, attending children’s concerts, etc.

“I once was lost, but now am found….” —John Newton, 1779 This coming Friday (and the second Friday of each December) has been designated as Official Lost and Found Day. Initially observed in 2012, it can serve as a day to remind people not to give up looking for that missing item.

November Firearm deer harvest down 7% statewide

Preliminary results from the 2025 Nebraska November firearm deer season show statewide harvest fell 7% from 2024, which was expected, according to the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission.Harvest went from 28,056 last year to 26,029 this year.
